NS5 Combined Schools Professional Development Day 2017

Article

Monday 24th April marked the sixth annual NS5 Combined Schools Professional Development Day, hosted at Chatswood High School.

On this day, nearly 500 teachers from Chatswood HS, Killara HS, Ku-ring-gai HS, St Ives HS and Turramurra HS came together to network, share ideas and develop learning resources for their students.

With the Australian Curriculum syllabuses now available in either published or draft stage for many KLAs, it was decided that this year professional learning would be offered in subject specific workshop groups.

The afternoon closed with 2 students from each of the NS5 schools presenting their thoughts on the topic, "My Education, My Future."

Lunch provides an excellent opportunities for informal networking amongst teachers from across the NS5 schools.

I think the student symposium speeches were excellent this year and are much better than paying for an expensive keynote speaker to fly in and deliver a speech. Having our NS5 students speak at this shared day solidifies and provides tangible evidence to all NS5 staff of what we are all trying to produce across the NS5 network.
