On Thursday, 23rd November, Estelle Lazer visited St Ives High School to present a 2-hour lecture to current HSC students from the NS5 schools.

Dr Estelle Lazer, author of Resurrecting Pompeii (2009), is an internationally renowned archaeologist known in for her work on the human remains from Pompeii. In 2015, she was appointed as a consultant for the Pompeii Cast Restoration Project. Estelle is also an Honorary Research Associate in the Department of Classics and Ancient History at the University of Sydney. 

Dr Lazer spoke to students about her current research that involves scanning the famous plaster casts of Pompeii and discovering that previously accepted theories don't stand up to current research. This was an exceptional opportunity for our students, as the work Dr Lazer spoke about is not yet published or in the public domain.
